The Texas Society of Professional Surveyors continues to impress the surveying community with its outstanding conference in Houston each year. This year, from October 15-18, surveyors from around the country will gather  in Texas to learn and discuss the details of the industry together.

The schedule begins on Wednesday afternoon with the annual golf tournament, followed by an invitation-only dinner at Maggiano’s. The excitement begins on Thursday when keynote speaker Senator Larry Taylor takes the stage to address transportation funding and other topics related to his expertise – education and health services. The rest of the day will include a variety of board meetings, receptions, and other events. Other important speakers at this event include Lyndy Phillips, Jib Ahmad, and Cliff Middleton.

Collaboration: The Map to the Future

In the spring of 2015, a special conference will be held in Washington, DC to discuss the current trends in surveying, geospatial matters, and mapping. One of the most highly anticipated topics is the integration of technology into traditional surveying techniques. However, the primary focus of the event is the discussion of the collaboration between government and the private sector.

Surveyors will have an opportunity to attend a wide range of lectures, view exhibit halls, and spend time making connections with other members of the industry. The event promises to begin a valuable tradition.

These three events hold exciting possibilities for individuals connected to the surveying community. Regardless of which event you attend, surveyors should remember how important it is to further their education and skills while attending the previously mentioned events.
